The Xu Lao Shi (XLS) Difference

At XLS Chinese, we understand that while Chinese can be a challenging subject for many students in Singapore, it is also an increasingly valuable skill in today’s global environment. Our goal is to make Chinese accessible, effective, and even enjoyable for every learner.

With many years of experience in private tuition, we have supported a wide range of local and international students. As demand for quality Chinese tuition grew, we expanded to offer physical group classes at a centre in Serangoon North — a convenient location near Rosyth School. While the venue is shared with another education provider, our classes are independently run and fully focused on delivering the XLS standard of teaching. This unique setup creates a meaningful synergy focusing on different subjects to give each student the support they need to thrive. Our curriculum is carefully aligned with the MOE syllabus and designed to support students from Preschool through to Secondary levels.

Our team of experienced educators and curriculum specialists work closely to deliver result-oriented lessons, improve language proficiency, and boost exam readiness. Whether it's a student preparing early for foundational strength or one joining us closer to PSLE, our tailored approach ensures progress for every learner. In 2024, a Primary 6 student who joined us mid-year improved by 20 marks in just 9 months — a testament to our proven methods and close parent-teacher collaboration.

Our students have also achieved top accolades in Chinese Language, such as the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Top Prizes Awards. From enrichment to exam mastery, there’s something here for every learner. Our patient and professional approach, small class sizes, and specialised exam techniques are what set us apart — helping every child build confidence and succeed.
